About the SHRM Foundation...

Many of our members probably wonder why we promote fundraising for the SHRM Foundation.
As I am sure everyone knows, the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM) is the parent organization with which we are affiliated. SHRM was established to bring human resource professionals together for collaboration, learning opportunities and to help shape practices in the ever changing workforce landscape. Our chapter is run according to guidelines and requirements established by SHRM.

The SHRM Foundation was established as a separate non-profit in 1966 to help the association and the profession engage in educational opportunities, research and legislation affecting human resources. The Foundation keeps abreast of legislation that affects human resources management, and participates in research in order to track trends and provide resources on topics of interest to HR practitioners. The Foundation also funds numerous scholarship opportunities for SHRM members which range from college scholarships, conference registration, online learning and recognition awards.

Chapters are encouraged to raise money for the SHRM Foundation. Each year, the status of our chapter is evaluated (we have been a Platinum Chapter for the past few years), and our fundraising plays a part in the determination of our status. For 2016, we were a top 25 chapter, which mearns we are doing a great job with fundraising.

Let's keep it going! You can donate on HRMA St. Louis' website by entering to win a trip to the MO SHRM State Conference to be held the first week of August - tickets are $10 each. You can also donate any time on the SHRM Foundation website - just be sure to enter the code for our chapter: 0013.

LET'S KEEP IT GOING AND TRY TO MOVE UP ON THAT TOP 25 LIST - IN 2016, WE WERE #16! LET'S GO FOR TOP 10!!

If you are a member of SHRM, you should check out the opportunities available to you.
