Message From the President

Greetings! Hope you are all staying warm - it's hard to believe that January is already over, and we will be well into February by the time we meet. We will all be fully entrenched in the Olympics, looking forward to Mardi Gras, and hoping for a great Valentine's Day surprise! Time flies!
I hope you are planning to attend the February meeting - it is one of my favorites - the Annual Legal Update. This event is possible in part thanks to our premier partner, Ogletree Deakins Nash Smoak & Stewart, P.C., a long-time supporter of our chapter. The program starts with a keynote, "Ripped from the Headlines," featuring topics we confront every day in our own personal marathons such as leave issues, harassment, and the #MeToo movement. The second part of the program gives you a chance to hear from an attorney on topics of interest to you. If you have checked the invitation, there are quite a few topics, and there is something for everyone. The format is informal allowing the participants to ask questions and hear the answers from an expert. The best advice I can give is to make sure you move quickly because some of the topics are extremely popular and the tables fill up quickly!

The Board is busy working on additional projects including the second annual "How to Get a Job in HR" hosted by the Young Professionals and University Relations Committees and the second annual HR Day of Service. Due to the success of last year's HR Day of Service, we are exploring more collaborations with NAAAHR. Also, please encourage your employers to participate in the "Partnership for Success Career Fair" (more information is included in this newsletter). I hope you take advantage and participate in the many opportunities offered by HRMA St. Louis. Volunteers are always welcome!

See all of you ar the Legal Update and hang in there - spring is coming!
