Message From the President

Greetings SHRM St. Louis Members! Hard to believe it is August already! Many of you are probably getting ready for the start of a new school year while trying to keep up with work. Among our many titles, we are all jugglers as well!
The MOSHRM conference was a huge success, and I was thrilled that one of our own chapter members, Past President Danielle Spieckerman, received the LEAD Award. Danielle was certainly worthy of the award, and her passion and enthusiasm for the HR profession are always very obvious. Danielle holds the SHRM-SCP certification, was responsible for implementing a SHRM certification institute at her former employer, serves as a District Director on the Missouri State Council and has presented at chapter meetings. Please be sure to congratulate Danielle when you see her! This is the third recipient of the award from SHRM of Greater St. Louis!

If you attended the July and August meetings, you saw the new logo, and we are working on advertising opportunities to promote our new name and logo in conjunction with promotion of the conference to be held October 12th at Ameristar. If you haven't signed up for the conference yet, please do so. We have so many great topics - it will be difficult to choose which sessions to attend because they are all very relevant to everyone in the Human Resources profession. Our keynote, Lenora Billings-Harris was recently named to the Speaker Hall of Fame, and we will have two sessions presented by Shari Alexander on influential communication and influential presentations. I have heard Shari speak, and highly encourage you to attend. Speaking of the conference, we need volunteers to help onsite the day of the conference. Please contact any of the Board Members if you are interested in volunteering. A list of volunteer "jobs" will be available soon.

We will return to our usual venue in September - the Renaissance Hotel at the airport. Moving forward, it is our hope that we will be able to host all of our meetings at the same venue next year.

If you have any thoughts, comments or ideas that you would like to share related to our Chapter, please don't hesitate to contact any of your Board Members. The Board wants SHRM of Greater St. Louis to be your organization so feedback is helpful.

Enjoy what's left of summer, and I look forward to seeing you all soon! We're "Going the Distance!"
