Message From the President

Greetings SHRM STL Members! Early meeting this month makes for a later newsletter!
Just attended our September meeting last week, and it was one of those meetings that was both educational and makes you feel good. The work done by Laughing Bear Bakery as a catalyst in helping ex-offenders make positive changes is a great example for us to remember that we can always look for and find ways to bring the best out in people with a little bit of care and concern. Hats off to John Marino for suggesting that we invite Laughing Bear to present, and to Nicole Schlanger for all of the hard work in putting the program together. I hope that it was inspirational, helpful and a learning experience for all who attended.

We are now quickly approaching our annual conference, and I hope that all of you who are members plan to attend. The program promises to be one of the best yet, with relevant topics and talented presenters. It will be difficult to choose between the sessions.

Speaking of the conference, we need volunteers to help onsite the day of the conference. Please contact any of the Board Members if you are interested in volunteering. A list of volunteer "jobs" will be available soon.

As you all know, we are responsible for raising money for the SHRM Foundation each year, and we have been a Top 25 Chapter for several years now. Once again this year, Jim Wolf of HRMC has agreed to take photo head shots in exchange for a donation to the SHRM Foundation - please be sure to see Jim at the conference. We also plan to have some nice SHRM of Greater St. Louis t-shirts and coffee mugs available for purchase with proceeds going to the SHRM Foundation.

If you have any thoughts, comments or ideas that you would like to share related to our Chapter, please don't hesitate to contact any of your Board Members. The Board wants SHRM of Greater St. Louis to be your organization so feedback is appreciated.

I look forward to seeing you all soon! We're "Going the Distance!"
