Message From the President

Happy New Year! I am honored to serve as your President this year, but would be remiss if I did not start by thanking those who helped me get here and who deserve all the credit.
First and foremost, I would like to thank you all, the members of SHRM STL, who truly are the lifeblood of our Chapter. Without your continued commitment, we would not be able to set the bar as high as we have for 2019 and beyond. I would also like to thank my fellow Board members. I have had the pleasure of serving on your Board for the last few years with some unbelievable and influential Board members and I could not be more excited for our 2019 Board. Finally, I would like to thank my wife. She will never read this article, but without her support and ability to keep things together on the home-front, I would never be able to dedicate myself to you all in 2019.

The mission of SHRM STL is to foster the professional development of our membership, to be a forum for the exchange of ideas, and to provide for the creative leadership and effective managment of people, in order to add value to the organizations they represent and the community at large. With so much momentum heading into this year after a phenomenal 2018 led by Linda Pipitone, we could easily set the cruise control and ride this out for 2019. Needless to say, the cruise control is off and we anticipate another historic year for our Chapter.

I challenge all of you to get involved with a committee this year, if you have not already done so. The best way to take full advantage of your membership, expand your professional network and influence the direction of our Chapter is to step up and volunteer. Each of our committees would love to welcome you with open arms. Immediately prior to the January 23rd Dinner Meeting, we will once again host our annual COMMITTEE FAIR. This is your chance to speak directly with current committee members and get a sense for your best fit. If you are unable to make the January 23rd meeting, please do not hesitate to contact any of our Board members, as we are happy to answer questions and help with committee placement.

You have a lot to look forward to this year. Stay up to date on our various channels (i.e., website, LinkedIn, Facebook and Twitter) and don't forget to volunteer!

Tim Wells
2019 President
