Message From the President

All good things must come to an end. People have asked how I feel about ending my term as President of SHRM of Greater St. Louis. The fact is, "parting is such sweet sorrow."
The sorrow comes from the fact that I have truly enjoyed working with you all as we continued to Transform Human Resources Into Valued Experts. What makes it sweet is that I will maintain my membership for as long as they will allow and look forward to serving in whatever capacity your next group of leaders ask of me.

Those who served before me left some very large shoes to fill. Only time will tell if I was even remotely successful in making them proud, but I am happy to say I could not be prouder of the 2020 Board which was unanimously approved during our last monthly chapter meeting.

Mary Ames-Smith is destined to raise the bar and the rest of her team will challenge the norm as they collectively strive to return the highest value of your membership to SHRM of Greater St. Louis.

If I can leave you with one last bit of advice, it is to Get Involved. We are a volunteer organization and only as strong as those who are willing to step up, join a committee and push the limits. We need diverse perspectives on our committees and the Board. In an ideal world, each of you would volunteer for a committee but I respect you have personal and professional commitments. You made the most important step by joining one of the largest groups of HR and Business Professionals in the Midwest. If you have even just an hour a month that you can spare, I know you will find it to be a valuable compliment to your membership.

Happy Holidays to you and your families. I look forward to seeing you in 2020!

Sincerely,
Tim

Tim Wells
2019 President
