HRMA's ability to provide excellent service to our members and to the HR profession is due to the many volunteer efforts of our members. We have a variety of committees to which you can be of service. Our current committees, each of which has volunteer opportunities, are listed below. |Business Partners/Vendor Relations
Committee members are needed to assist in securing sponsorship/advertising at various level offered. Levels include meeting sponsorship, website advertising, and conference sponsorship. The committee is responsible for developing and maintaining relationships with HRMA sponsors. Contact: Dean Kpere-Daibo
Committee members are needed to assist in coordinating the HRMA certification study group program conducted each Fall and Spring in preparation for the PHR/SPHR certification exams. Contact: Susan Hemmer, SHRM-SCP, SPHR
Help us liaison with local and national media, prepare and submit press releases related to HRMA and SHRM. Act in an editorial capacity coordinating HRMA publications and its website. Subcommittees include website, publications, and public relations. Contact: Becki Feldmann
The primary goals of HRMA's Diversity Committee are to assess and address diversity among HRMA members, identify best practices and measurments for diversity to be provided to HRMA members, and serve as a diversity resource for HRMA members and their organizations. Be a part of setting the HRMA educational agenda for the HRMA Leadership Conference, our premier event of the year! Volunteers are needed to develop topics, recruit speakers and coordinate logistics for the conference. Obtaining SHRM/HRCI recertification is a key criterion. Contact: Katie Magoon, SPHR, SHRM-SCP
Through its legislative advocacy work, the Legislative Committee works to provide HRMA members a voice in legislative arenas with the goal to influence the outcome of federal and state legislation through education, dialogue, and cooperation. Contact: Becki Feldmann
Volunteers are needed to strengthen the partnerships between HRMA and area colleges and universities offering degrees in HRM. The committee serves as an advisor to local student chapters and acts as a liaison between HRMA, SHRM and the student chapters. Contact: Susan Hemmer, SHRM-SCP, SPHR
Volunteers are needed to help recruit and retain members and assist members in becoming involved with HRMA through committee participation. Activities include identifying potential members, making new members feel welcome and developing other strategies for promoting membership and involvement in HRMA and SHRM. Contact: Ben Houseman
Committee members are needed to facilitate the HRMA mentoring program. Responsibilities include reviewing and updating the mentor and protege application, soliciting for program participants, making matches between mentors and proteges, and conducting an orientation program. Join your colleagues in generating awareness of the SHRM Foundation through fundraisers and social activities. Committee members will be responsible for planning and executing events/activities designed to raise awareness and funds for the SHRM Foundation. Contact: Tim Wells
This commitee offers value-added programs covering "hot topics" in which members learn from each other through an interactive format. Programs will be offered on a quarterly basis throughout the year and in the summer months. Volunteers are always welcome to help plan and coordinate these exciting events. The primary goals of HRMA's Workforce Readiness Committee are to identify the workforce readiness resources most helpful to HR professionals and promote those resources within the HRMA membership, and determine how HRMA members can advocate for and facilitate workforce readiness initiatives in our community and organizations.
