Associate Director of Human Resources
Covenant Theological Seminary is seeking a full-time Associate Director of Human Resources to oversee a full range of human resources administration and payroll/benefits administration responsibilities, including payroll and benefit administration, hiring and termination processes, communication of personnel issues, performance management, and employee relations for the Seminary community of full-time/part-time regular staff, and part-time student and non-student workers.

Requirements Primary Responsibilities:
  • Process monthly payroll and approve monthly benefit invoices.
  • Participate in and support hiring process across all departments.
  • Provide all human resources onboarding, termination, and administrative responsibilities as needed, from employment processing to correspondence to record keeping to file maintenance to HRIS entry, etc.
  • Administer employee health, welfare, and retirement plans under the direction of the VP of Business and Finance.
  • Manage benefits open enrollment period, including participation in renewal discussion and all administrative aspects.
  • Oversee and provide all information for annual workers’ compensation audit, and support annual Seminary audit as needed. 
  • Participate in confidential employee meetings as needed.
  • Serve the Seminary community with gracious, prompt, and accurate customer service.
  • Perform other human resources duties as needed or assigned.  
Other  Functions:
  • Update Employee Handbook and other forms as needed, in collaboration with Seminary Leadership.
  • Oversee and coordinate annual HR events requiring communication, documentation, and timely return of forms.
  • Prepare ADP system reports as needed across departments.
  • Periodically review and follow up with employee job descriptions to ensure accuracy of employee responsibilities.
  • Continue to equip and enhance knowledge of HR field through educational opportunities and other resources.
Education and Experience:
  • Required: Relevant undergraduate degree and/or professional experience.
  • Preferred:
    • shrm-cp, shrm-scp, or other certification
  • 2 – 3 years of recent hr-related work
  • Proficiency in payroll processing, especially with adp  
  • Dependable and regular in attendance 
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to keep strict confidentiality
  • Team player with strong interpersonal skills
  • Ability to interact with all levels of management
  • Prior experience working with an HRIS and payroll system (preferably ADP)
  • Proficiency in MS Office, especially Excel
  • Working knowledge of state and federal employment laws and insurance regulations
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills
  • Detail oriented
  • Highly organized and self-motivated
 The successful candidate will demonstrate strong administrative skills and an ability to multi-task, while making service to the Seminary community in a winsome manner the highest priority. This candidate will enjoy working independently as well as serving as part of a team.
